....but I've officially fallen for Barack Obama. I tried to ignore the campaign popularity, the 10 consecutive primary wins, the stirring speeches. But then this article totally tricked me...
I REFUSE TO BUY INTO THE OBAMA HYPE
...and before I knew it I had downloaded his Blueprint For Change and was actually giving a shit about what he was saying. For someone whose only ever known the asstardery of Bush's Administration his entire adult life, believing that a presidential candidate might actually give a fuck about schools, social security, healthcare...ya...it's a big goddamn deal for me. I've protested a president more than I've voted for one. In my dictionary the phrase "White House Victory" is synonymous with "Fuck your Constitution and the civil liberties it rode in on." The funniest punch line I know is "checks and balances."
So for there to be a shred of actual trust emanating from my politically shriveled and jaded soul...
Mr. Obama, please don't be another douche bag in a suit.

Good choice! Haven't you heard? Barack Obama is your new bicycle.
(And Hillary? Hillary is mom jeans.)
What convinced me was his book... "The Audacity of Hope." Well worth a read!
@ Fist: Dude, I love it. Will the interwebs never cease to amaze me?
@ Dave2: I'm wondering if it's a good plane read (as in when I'm stuff on a 10 hr. flight to Italy).
HOORAY! I don't even get to vote yet I'm still so fascinated and pleased with OBAMA I'm considering marrying the first American I see when I go to VEGAS just so I can vote in November.
And I'm glad you got the OBAMA/bicycle link. That little gem has brought me far too much joy.
Welcome to the band wagon.
I believe he gives a fuck. I just question whether he'd actually be able to do anything. That whole Congressional checks and balances thing can be equal parts good and bad. And I see it being bad with Obama as President. Too many people trying to stifle him.
OK. I think I almost understand this whole primary business. (I'm Canadian no vote for me.)
I want to believe that he is what he says. And I hope for better leadership. I am a sucker for a good speech and the man can deliver one. I think it's time for a change.
But damn that Oprah endorsement bugs me.
I've had to look past the Oprah endorsement too ;).
I've been on the Obama train for a month or so now. I read his book, actually listened to his speeches and fell in politico-love with him.
Of course, I have selfish reasons that I do not want HIllary being our next president. I have enough paranoia without having to hear people talk about what a bitch Hillary is and think they mean me!
I started reading that linked blog post you shared ... and it's amazing. Hopefully later, I'll go back to finish it ... and maybe refer to it. Lots of great information. Thanks!
I love your closing sentence, and I just have to say: Amen. Please Mr. Obama? Don't.
Sigh. I might be the only Hillary-ist left in blogland.
Ditto. On all of that.
